About

I’ve been collecting watches for longer than I care to admit. A big part of the fun for me is learning about the history behind the brands I have (and can’t have!). That’s about it.

Hi, Ive been a fan of your youtube channel for a few years, i think you make the some of the best content.
You have shared your experiences using this Yahoo Japan auctions and I am hoping you can give me some advice about trusting it and avoiding buying fake vintage pieces. Im an amateur watch lover whos moderately educated about what im searching, but some watches im finding here seem to be real or very convincingly.
I am wondering if you had any advice about using Yahoo Japan Auctions (im currently signed up with Jauce). Im finding some extraordinary deals (particularly vintage tudor) that just cant be true, perhaps redials, convincing fakes? There doesnt seem to be accountability if you buy a fake watch here, no authentication. Anyway any advice would be awesome.

    • Hi. Thanks for your kind words! I’ve been so busy with remote schooling, that I’ve not had much of a chance to focus on anything else.

Unfortunately, it’s best to assume that you will not have any recourse if things go wrong when buying from YA via proxy. I’ve been trained to think that way since I’ve been doing it since the ‘00s. I’ve not used jauce, but have had good experiences with Buyee, which does seem to have receptive customer service, at least as far as dealing with issue of having no current EMS shipment to the US.

As far as Tudor goes. I have 0 experience buying into that brand. I do know that there are A LOT of frankens/fakes with certain models. Unless you are very certain, it may not be best to make such a risky purchase long distance. If you’re really determined, start google searching the particular model/serial number and try to figure out if the dial/case/hands are legit. Also, compare the going rate on eBay/WatchRecon. Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake in thinking there aren’t any unscrupulous sellers on YA. Good luck!

  2. Thanks! I’ve been pretty busy, but hope to start making videos again soon. Coincidentally, that watch will be part of the next video.
